Blackman's work explores the possibilities of a single mark or gesture. He sets up a condition that allows for materials to behave naturally, while animating the forms towards metaphoric and representational potentials.
Jerry Blackman, (b.1984 Brooklyn, NY) received his MFA from Yale University School of Art in 2014 and BFA from The Cooper Union School of Art in 2006. Recent projects include his solo exhibition "Three Extrusion Disks" at Rose in Brooklyn, "People, Places, and Things" at 326 Gallery, and "Please Excuse our Appearance" at 247365 both in Manhattan. He has a two person exhibition forthcoming at Hometown in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and was selected for a residency at Yaddo in Saratoga Springs, NY in Fall, 2016.
