Melissa Canbaz (b. 1986) is a writer and curator based in Berlin. She graduated from the Masters of Research programme at the Glasgow School of Art in 2013, where she developed a research project on ‘dialogical’ approaches within the field of contemporary curatorial practices. Canbaz is a regular contributor to magazines, such as Frieze, Frieze d/e, Texte zur Kunst, Artforum and Kaleidoscope, as well as Artist’s publications and catalogues. Since 2012 she has been a contributing editor to the interview magazine mono.kultur, for which she has initiated and conducted interviews with Kim Gordon and Terre Thaemlitz. A selection of her curatorial projects include: Pedestal, South Block, Glasgow, 2013, Dear Green, a group show with works by Marysia Gacek, Natalie Häusler, Sophie Reinhold, Nadim Vardag and Dominic Watson, Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik, Berlin, 2014, Sculpting 2D, a photographic slideshow with works by Patrick Jameson, Rachel de Joode, Barbara Kasten and Roman Schramm, CCA Glasgow, 2014.
